High Light Coral Option
What would be a good coral to place at the very top of my cube rock structure!? You can't see it but I have a Radion XR15 about 7-8 inches above the actual waterline, which is about another 2.5" taller than what it is in this pic with the pump running. Any insight is greatly appreciated....

You'll have to acclimate whatever you put up there. I would expect some serious bleaching if you don't. I would say to try an encrusting montipora to cover that bare rock, plus it won't grow up out of the water like an acro or other branching coral. My Superman Monti likes high light, and so does my Sunset Monti.

LPS might get burned up in that location, but you can give it a shot I suppose. Encrusting monti would look good up there! You know you want to!

Are encrusting montis as finicky about water quality as other sps? Lps is a lot more forgiving, I would like to try it tho!!

Yeah they can be sometimes; the plating montis are really easy, but the encrusting montipora aren't too much more difficult I don't think. IMO, it's luck of the draw. I've had some that die for no apparent reason and others that grow no matter what happens to the tank.
