I can hear mine when it's running, but I wouldn't consider it loud. The water splashing into the sump is louder than the pump when it's on.

Tap it when it's running- air can and does get trapped making it much louder than normal. I just grab the tube and jiggle it against the bottom somewhat forcefully a few times after refilling the ato container

My osmolator was also quite loud. I could make it quieter by positioning it in the middle of the ATO tank, but it was easily the loudest piece of equipment in my sump. The pump was acting up, so I got a replacement from BRS and the replacement pump was significantly quieter, so you may just have a noisy pump like I did.
Even the replacement pump was not silent. You're not paying for a silent pump - you're paying for a well designed controller with redundant systems and quality sensors... and a basic, run of the mill pump.

+ 1 on pump replacement. I keep a spare pump and when it starts to get loud replace it.
This is also caused by cavitation of the pump when starting. If your pump becomes hard to start then it is not keeping your water topped off properly.

Weird. The Osmo on my basement tank has always been quite audible (even after replacing pump once and controller once). While the Osmo on my den tank is almost silent. Luckily, I don't care how loud the basement tank is.
