How long does frozen food keep once thawed?

Any reason I can't thaw it in the morning in a cup of water, let it sit, and feed throughout the day?

Food degrades as it sits in the water.

Keep it in the fridge and it should be fine for at least a day.

Foodservice guidelines would say 4 hours at an unknown temp and to discard if it reaches 50 degrees.

I see a couple options you might be interested in. One would be a dorm fridge by the tank with a DOS to feed periodically, then return the food to the fridge until the next feeding.

The other, I can't remember the name of, but it was announced (maybe released) at MACNA this year. It is basically an insulated funnel that mounts to your tank and an ice form. You thaw your food, mix with some RODI, and freeze it in the form. Just toss the ice into the funnel and it drips into your tank throughout the day as it thaws.

I mix enough for 3 or 4 days by putting it in a glass and letting it thaw overnight in the refrigerator. I've done this for decades. The mixture doesn't smell, doesn't deteriorate and the fish love it. I don't believe, nor do I think I could be convinced, that there is anything wrong with this.

I have seen what looks like the eyes of the brine and mysis turning black after 5 or 6 days. But my mixture doesn't last 5 or 6 days.
