Help with amemone

Help please.
I received an anenome today. I temp. acclimated and lowered into the water gloved handed. After which the current got hold of it and now it is rolling around willie nillie. What do or do need to do something now? When it arrived I could see some matter in the bag as well. Help please.

You might want to turn everything off except the return pump for an hour or so and hopefully the anemone will grab ahold of something. Maybe place it close to a rock or the corner of the tank if need be. Being that these creatures can move around on their own, a healthy anemone should find a suitable location given time.

By temp acclimation did you just float the bag? Next time I would consider temperature and drip acclimating. Anemone's are a difficult specimen to deal with.

I would follow Simmons advice and turn off all your powerheads and let it latch onto something. Make sure you have covers for your powerheads or else you can make my mistake and have BTA sushi.

i did. The bag was floated about 45 mins.

just hope for the best. assisted placement can work for a minute or so. if the nem doesnt like its spot it will move on its own. you'll have to worry once it unlatches from the rock and just lets the current make way with it.

So they dont unlatch in order to move on?

They do.

I would suggest putting it on a rock fragment near the sandbed. That's what i did with mine and he eventually found a home on another rock about 6 inches away.

interesting to note, when I was placing him in my tank I tried to place him several places but he wouldn't unlatch from my gloved hand. When I got near the rock fragment he did so I figured that's where he wanted to be.

My preferred acclimation method for new acquisitions. Corals, anemones, and invertebrate are very sensitive so I like to get them out of the shipping bag immediately. Also, you didn't say the species of Nem, it's hard to know where to tell you to set the nem to chill without knowing the kind of nem.

MY BTA and LTA both moved around until they found a place they liked. The BTA went all over and under the rock, up and around the end of the tank and back to the same rock. Once it found a hole it liked it's stayed put. My LTA moved around the bottom a bit and then settled in a cranny between the base of two rocks. Neither of them floated around once they got their footing. As they said above, turn off the PHs and it'll find a spot it likes. I think BTA prefer rocks, if you have to move it, try placing him in a hole or deep crack in the rocks.

It has settled in a small dimple in a side rock for now which is in a spot not as bright as I had thought they liked. I'll try to feed it some shaved shrimp

I'm not an anemone expert by any means, but I know that the general consensus on anemones in new tanks is "leave them alone".

I wouldn't try to feed it. You might aggravate it further, and also, if it doesn't eat, you'll just think something more is wrong with it. Give it some time.
