Going fallow ! Any suggestions?
Well after finally catching all my fish Im going fallow in my DT. I had a velvet wipe out with only 3 surviving fish...
So I have a couple of questions. 1) I will go fallow for 80 days, its that enough or am I being paranoid? 2) Since there is no waste being produced by fish, how often should I make water changes. Thats all for now. THanks ! |

I believe the recommended fallow period for velvet is 6 weeks.

No water changes necessary while going fallow. As long as you don't have a high nitrate or phosphate problem. The longer you go fallow the better chances of it dying off, so I say 80 days is fine.

Water changes are not necessary unless you have corals and need to change the water to replace the trace elements and if you are feeding the corals on a regular basis.
