Cool Acid Bath Live Rock

So I got some LR off craigslist. It had a lot of organic matter on it as it was stored in water. I did a 1/10 soak for about 20 minutes in muriatic acid and then neutralized with baking soda. Some rocks are white which I like. The acid is eating away at the rock.

Some rocks still have black on n them, grey, and brown hue's. Does the rock need to be white? I don't want any leeching or organic matter still in the obviously. So..... should the finished product be sparkling white?

When I did it the first time I did acid first then bleach for white. It worked but there was still live material and I had to acid wash it twice.

The second time I did this I did the bleach first to kill everything. Pulled rock, washed it, dechlorinated it and then acid washed to make it white. That worked better IMHO.

My guess is using Seachem Prime or something of that sort in between with a good wash.

you could power wash the rocks and see if that finishes up cleaning the rocks before acid washing again.

Several rounds of Prime. Make sure you cant smell the bleach anymore and then do one more round. My rocks took 4 rinse rounds with Prime. The rocks are now in a tank with no ill affects, and growing algae on them (unfortunately). lol
