Cleaning gsp frag

I have noticed some spots on my green star polyp frag that have diatoms and cyno covering them. The polyps still come out but not as often. Any suggestions on how to clean them off? I have tried the turkey baster to no avail. Are they hardy enough to where I can just run my finger over it to wipe it off? Any suggestions are appreciated
