I have notes that divers den is 1.025 and the quality marine / California facility is 1.021. This is for fish, not coral so those numbers might be different.

CA facility is around 1.019 for fish. 1.023 for shrimp

My LA shipments have varied from 1.017-1.019 and DD are almost always 1.025

Just test the bag when it arrives. I've gotten 1.017 to 1.024

I guess the problem is that if it's a fish it's tough to adjust the salinity of your QT once you've opened the bag and the clock starts ticking.

I ordered from DD and the sg was 1.015 but that was probably a freak thing.

I leave my first 10 gallon TTM tank about 70% full at 1.024, and keep 3 gallons of RO/DI water next to it in a bucket. Then when I see what salinity I need to get down to I just pour in enough RO/DI water to get there, the whole process takes at most a minute or two. It drops the temperature a little bit but that has never caused any problems (the temperature will slowly rise as the fish is floating and temp acclimating), or I could just put a heater in the bucket of RO/DI water if I wanted to.

I also use a syringe to check the salinity of the bag without exposing it to air, then put a little duct tape on the hole, but that is probably a bit excessive. Syringes are pretty cheap though at the local drugstore.

I received a shipment this morning so I thought I would update my LA experience posted above.

I ordered 3 fish (Rhomboid wrasse, Exquisite wrasse anda small Atlantic Blue tang). SG in the bags was 1.017, 1.016 and 1.017. I also ordered some inverts and the salinity in that bag was 1.023.

As usual the packaging was impeccable, water temps were good despite the low 30's temps here. Fish were all very healthy appearing and active. They were smaller than the advertised size to my eye.

It also appears that water volume in the shipment is no longer related to species or fish size. The tang (least expensive and largest of the 3) was shipped in the smallest amount of water and the wrasse in considerably bigger bags

Over all still quite pleased. Very healthy looking fish, shipped expertly and beautifully colored.

I think reported outliers are more to mis calibrated home measurement than actual.

Good luck with that Atlantic Blue especially in a small tank.

He's going in a 72x24 tank.

I have one in a 180 (72) and he is a bit aggressive towards my Purple at times and other times you will find them swimming side by side. I also have Kole and he never bothers that one. The Blue and my Two Bared Rabbit are best buds.
