Anyone have or know where I can find an OLD Waveline 6000 Controller?
The controller on my old Waveline DC-6000 pump took a dump and after a thorough search of the internet I was only able to find the new Apex Compatible model. Since I have no plans to go Apex anytime soon ( due to the money , as always) I was wondering if someone out there has one of these old style controllers for trade or sale, or can possibly steer me in the right direction. I see there are other parts one needs to change on the pump with the Apex upgrade, but are those changes only necessary to make it Apex compatible, or will my old pump still work ( just not Apex compatible) as it did before If I bought the new controller w/o changing the impeller and volute? Thanks....Ron

Well it looks like nobody (that has seen this) can help with finding the old Waveline controllers, but I will bet someone can answer the second part of the question. Is the old Waveline DC 6000 compatible with the Apex ready controller for purposes of running it as before or will I have to change the volute and impeller as well. Remember I am not looking to go Apex, I simply want it to run as it did previously...Ron

i thought i read somewhere they stopped selling these pumps because of controller issues. Then re released it with a different better controller.
Knowing you cant find a replacement it seems you would want the NEWER Controller .. Since i do not have the pump i am just going by what i read when i was about to buy one.. Just a Thought

waveline 6000
Fact is I AM willing to buy the newer controller. I have seen them as low as $40 and I can go there. But the newer controllers are Apex ready and I can do without all that. I have read that in order to go Apex with the new controller one needs to replace the volute and impeller, which is a much costlier (is that a word) proposition and a waste for my purposes. So that is why I also am here asking if i simply want my pump to do exactly what it used to do , do I need to buy the new volute and impeller, or are those parts only necessary if one wants to go Apex?? With all the wealth of knowledge out there I am surprised to have not received an answer
BTW the various controllers on the original waveline pumps are all pretty much IDENTICAL in appearance except for the model #. I had access to a Waveline 4000 controller and after hooking up to my 6000 it did nothing. I suppose it is entire possible the pump went out when the controller quit, I simply do not know. That is why I am looking to see if someone else can verify the 4000 controller will run the 6000 pump. Thanks....Ron |

Have you tried contacting Waveline or one of their distributors? I've had a couple of controllers replaced by either.

You do not need an apex to use the apex compatible version. I would get the apex compatible version. They fixed a few things and has a much better heatsink to keep the controller cooler.

I spoke with whom I believe is the manager of Aquatic Warehouse and he stated that they are a distributor of Waveline that is where I bought mine from, he also stated that they have a bunch of parts laying around as well.
This is a very nice LFS with lots of equipment such as ATI skimmers Alpha skimmers, aquariums etc. and I have no relationship with them other than being a customer. |

Again sorry for the repeat posts . I am trying to figure out how to edit my posts and wound up repeating myself. I have not found a way to to edit my posts and to make matters worse I wind up with duplicate posts.
