Colorado Red Sea Reefer 525xl

So, after running our 75 gallon tank for 18 years we decided it was time to replace the carpet in our home with hardwood floors. Step one, take down the old tank. We sold and gave away the inhabitants of the old aquarium to get things started. We managed to save about 80 lbs of live rock to use in the new reefer 525xl. While the new floor was getting installed we took down a half wall to open the room up and decided that the new tank would be set up in a different location in the same room. Below are some pictures of before and after the floor is replaced.

Here is some of the equipment I have for the new build. I got the tank delivered and had to refuse the delivery. The folks at Marine Depot were quick to get another one out to us within a week of the one we sent back. I'm not sure how often they get these returned, but I was surprised by the lack of protection around the tank itself. Some pictures I've seen of the smaller sizes seem to have more Styrofoam around them than the 525xl. It only had 1/2 inch sheets on 3 sides of it.

Wow at first I thought it was something under it that it gave it a optical illusion. I guess the finger check always work. Marine Depot is a good company I am gland they are all over it.

Sorry about the tank, shipping & delivery companies need to read fragile signs. Now another long waiting week

Lucky for me the day after the broken tank arrived I had a ski trip to Aspen planned so the wait wasn't a factor because I wasn't home to think about it.

The ski trip is over. The new tank is here and the build is under way. The plan for today, plumbing and construction of the manifold. I am hoping to get that done so I can get this baby wet.
