I'm currently using eheim auto feeder...
Has 4 time settings per day... I'm using flake in it... explicitly says no frozen if that's what u were after. Also, on the reviews people have complained that the adjuster for the amount of food sometimes opens too my lunch which has resulted in overfeeding. I took that on board before buying as that seemed to be the only issue reported.. what I have done is used some tape to hold the adjuster in my preferred setting so that it cannot move. So far so good an I am happy with the product. I've set it to feed small amounts of flake 3 times per day. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk |

I use an eheim feeder with NLS pellets, and I have noticed that my fish just look healthier, a little plumper. I believe it from from the consistency of feedings. Now I feed frozen, nori and and extra feeding by hand.

Thanks for your guys' responses. So far according to you guys and other internet reviews eheim is on top. I personally want the AFS since I have an apex system but I've heard some bad reviews on them. Sure, they may be overpriced but spilling into tank and difficulty of programming is another issue. @sycocell maybe you can chime in more

I use an Apex AFS when we go away for a week or more. I find it's simple to install and program. It's a bit tricky adding food if it's installed on the tank, so I usually just remove the whole feeder before I remove the food drum. The only negative I've found with ours is that sometimes the drum won't screw all the way back inside after feeding, but it doesn't seem to have any impact on performance.
I've heard lots of good reviews on the Eheim and I'm sure it's a great feeder. I went with the AFS because I already had an Apex and I love the ability to remotely feed. I use a floating square on the surface of the water to contain the pellets so they don't get wisked away into the overflow before the fish can eat them. I can view from my tank cam to see if the square is in place or if snails have pushed it out of alignment, in which case I can turn off the auto feeder remotely until someone stops by the house. I can also trigger a remote feeding while watching with the camera.

I use an Eheim with pellets. It keeps things dry but flakes still like to stick to the sides. So pellets and only pellets it is.

Thanks for chiming in! I'm prepping to go away on vacation for 2 weeks so I think I may go with an eheim in conjunction with my floating ring for now since it seems the best bang for buck. And maybe at a later date with more demanding fish, I'd upgrade to an AFS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I used the Eheim. At first it was only when going out of town. I eventually started using it at all times. It was nice for feeding the anthias all throughout the day. I used the APBreed small granual pellets and the anthias took to it very well.

I also used the Eheim. I run two, one with flakes and the other with pellets.

When I worked maintenance Eheim was the preferred unit.

I use the Eheim also. It can be modified to trigger a feeding from a controller if you need this. It was discussed on the Archon thread here.http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...460918&page=55
