Did my green hair algea die and turn brown?
I had a big green hair algae breakout that I understood and stopped it. It was a lot and it all turned brown and is slowly releasing from rocks and sand. No new growth and tank is otherwise good (very low Nit and pho, glass stays clear for week+).
I have been manually removing this - what I assume to be - "dead" algae. I haven't had any cleanup critters in a long while so I thought I would stop by the LFS and pick some up that will help with this process. Any recommendations? Is this a job for turbo snails?

I'm sure others have more input but I just went through the same thing. I removed as much as I could here and there with a turkey baster and the turbo did the rest. FWIW I did find that the weak algae I was removing was loaded with pods...

Yes, it is probably dead. I have had some good success with turbo snails.
