Anemone is toast!
Hello RC,
Well, I knew that I shouldn't have put a bubble tip anemone in a 6 month old tank but I did...and it is gone! I have this weird clear slime on the rock and back walls of my tank but the anemone is nowhere to be found. I checked all of my parameters and they are all within limits. ? is, should I go ahead and do a water change even though everything is good after scraping the back glass and rock or should I just scrape the rock and change the filter sock out on a daily basis until all is clear? What is really weird is my snails had babies about 2 months ago and the tank seemed to be thriving. I have little snails everywhere! Guess the anemone just couldn't cut it. Thanks RC! -Jon |

keeping a bta in a 6 month tank isnt unheard of. i suspect the issue is with ur water parameters. can u list them? what is the slime on the glass?

I do have a rather long photoperiod since I got my Ethreals. Not sure if that factors in or not.

the brown slime u have could be dinoflagellates. u need to take care of it before adding any corals or anemone.

Is it possible it's shriveled up and in a crevice under the rock? There known for it and can shrink to pretty much nothing in the right little hole

Btas like to hide in new environment. It could be in a small crevice or between rocks.
It also could be sucked into the filter intake or pump intake and shredded into pieces. Look for evidence. They don't "melt" fast under normal environment. The baby snails, unless you can clearly tell, might be a different species. Just a possibility. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk |

Okay, my girlfriend found it!!! So happy it didn't die. Now to tackle the algae. What is the best way to do this? Scrape and use a turkey baster on rock then a water change? Or chemicals? Really would like to avoid putting anything in my tank. I have NoPox but haven't used it because my nutrients are 0.00. Thoughts? Thanks
