Coral beauty dilemma
So my buddy got a Coral beauty and a flame angel at the same time. As it turns out the flame angel is taking a whooping from the CB. He called me today and asked if I'd like the CB? I currently have only got a 20 long. It has a small six line and clown plus various corals. I have a HOB fuge and am also running a small skimmer. The CB is maybe 2" right now so it's not large by any means... The only reason I ask is cause I am in the middle of refinishing a stand for a 50 cube and will be setting that up soon. Normally this would be a no brainer and I'd never even think of putting that fish in my system for permanent housing, I just hate to cramp this fishes style and have it take it's anger out on my current livestock.
Am I over thinking this or should I tell him I can't take the fish even though it's a choice fish I'd love to house..... decisions decisions. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk |

How long had he has them? I got the CB first. After a few weeks, I added the flame. The flame immediately terrorized the CB. After 2 weeks of battle, they are cool now. They just stopped fighting. Hopefully it will work out for your friend. Your tank is too small. Even a 50g is small to be a CB forever home. My CB is super active. It is always grazing and looking for food.

He got them about 4 weeks ago and up until about Sunday every buddy was fine.
That's kind of what I figured that my system now and the new one are too small. I know some people have gotten away with it, but getting away with it doesn't always mean it's the way to treat a life. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk |

Tell him to try the mirror trick or take them both out and try to re-introduce them together few days down the road. I agree, your tank is too small for a CB.

Thanks again, what's the mirror trick? He did say he might through the CB in his fuge for a couple days and see if that works

Even a 50 is too small for the Coral Beauty and eventually it is highly likely to start killing tank mates. Things will certainly be interesting in the 20 gallon tank, Six Line versus CB, that's a hard fight to predict the winner of. I'm sure the CB is bigger, but never underestimate how well a Six Line can fight. They may co-exist for a while, but be prepared to quickly remove one of the two if you do put them in the 20, it will not take long if they do fight for one to kill the other.
