Feed pump for calc reactor other than peristaltic
Hi ,
Am looking to slowly get budget accumulated for a calcium reactor for a 90 gallon acro only system . Its gonna be used MTC or GEO 612 calcium reactor with aquariumplants doser. But with current situation cannot afford a cole palmer or a wtason marlow persitaltic feed pump. Hence wanted to know if there are still people running calcium reactors of mj1200 or other normal powerheads ? If so, which feed pump do you suggest ? Please have it in mind that I am aware of the stability you achieve with a perstaltic pump but am gonna take my chances with a normal feed pump . Regards, Abhishek |

I use a Tee from my return line.

I've had the MTC ProCal for almost two decades, with all but the last 3 years fed from a T on my main pump. A continuous duty rated peristaltic pump is clearly better, but pump fed can work well also. I just had to regularly clean out the needle valve.

It does, that's true. I used it for a bit but ultimately found a pressure feed to work better. I've quite heavily modified mine in the time that I have had it.

I have the spectrapure ultra precise ATO pump feeding my reactor. WSorking great thus far. Slief is the one who keyed me onto it.
