Auto feeder for rimless tanks
I am seeking advice on the best Auto feeder for rimless tanks. I've looked at a few on Amazon and they appeared to be needing to rest on a flat surface or tanks with a rim. I am scheduled to leave town for 10 days. My reef tank has mostly tangs and wrasses. I've never used Auto feeder, as feeding fish and corals is very enjoyable for me.
TIA for any insights and suggestions. I feed small pellets. I guess I need to crush nori sheets into small flakes and mix with the pellets for feeding. Sent from my SM-G928T using Tapatalk |

I use two of the Apex AFS units (different sized pellets, one of the pellets I only feed every other day.)
The used the IntelliFeed as the base for their unit. In case you don't have a controller. I got one of the early AFS units as soon as they announced, as I was going on a cruise. It has worked flawlessly since November of 2013.

I'm having a good experience with this unit. Small pellets and medium. Works great, great value.

I used the ehiem unit for a while - eventually modded it to run off of a wall wart so that I could control it with my apex.... I didn't remember it having a bracket for a rimless tank. It obviously does now. It worked well for pellets and flake. ( had to crush the flake to get it to work.)

The current one has a bracket that you can screw on and off. It is a less reliable than the Ehiem, but might be your best bet. You could always make a flat surface for the Ehiem - which I think is the best out there..

I have used feeder similar to "current" brand, but ebay generic, for years with no problem. costs about $10. I think pellets only will be fine for 10 days. |

Eheim does make a bracket for rimless tanks but it fits a few sizes but not all.

I've been using the Lifegard Intellifeed for about 6 months on a Red Sea Reefer 250 and haven't had an issue with it. Little inconsistent on the amount of each feed, but for the most part has done what I needed it to. I don't think there is a consistent feeder on the market to be honest. I use this with a mix of 0.5mm & 1mm New Life Spectrum pellets. |

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions, which are well taken. A good friend of mine will lend me his feeder that he is not using. I would definitely look into these to buy one for regular feeding during the day for my anthias.
