Suggestions for All Newbies

Most of us on this forum love answering questions from Newbies (although there are a few grouches like Mcgyver). That said, it's nearly impossible to answer questions about tank health without some specifics.
1. How long has the tank been set up?
2. How long since cycle complete?
3. How big is the tank?
4. What kind of lighting do you have on the tank?
5. Do you have a skimmer/sump?
6. SPECIFIC WATER PARAMENTERS: Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, Calcium, kH. Saying 'my parameters are fine' is meaningless.

With the above information, many newbie questions can be answered very easily.

Thanks for listening to this grouches rant.

Hey mcgyvr, you may, occasionally, once in a blue moon come off as a bit of a grouch, but you also provide great answers and offer up some fun as well!

Ca, alk and Mg are important and is easy to vary up and down, pH is really a very minor parameter that only stays in a very narrow range. I haven't checked my pH in years.

MacGyver? Grouchy? Never happens. But he is a fount of useless... I mean useful information.

If you keep your kH at the right levels pH is rarely an issue.
