Bleaching tips
Hello everyone
I need your help, about two weeks before my acroporas begin to bleach at the tips, which then die and start to get algae. I'll always try to cut so as not to spread. I follow the method triton. Ca 450 ' Mg 1350 Kh 7.6 Po4 000 No3 2 Here it is very hot and the temperature does not drop below 27c or 80 f And about a month ago due to a dosing problem my kh dropped to 5.6, but slowly went up to 7.3. Some help? |

Try and get your po4 up a little. May help. Every time I've had burned tips it's always been a parameter problem and lots and lots of water changes helps...but...triton method, no water changes. I don't know what else to say

An "alk/kH" instability issue will certainly cause problems like you have described..
Sorry..

Yes i would aspect the problems appear almost at the same time, and not whit several weeks of distance. The temperature dont help, that is a fact. regards |

Do some water changes and see what happens, regardless of what the "triton" method says. It's not worth losing coral over an ideology. There's no world in which water changes are a bad thing.

These are almost certainly from the lower nutrient that Triton wants you to have. Dead tips from alk swing nearly always happen when the alk swing is happening.
Healthy corals can handle up to 84-85... stressed corals cannot. Go back to a typical Berlin method for a while and see if everything stabilizes. Skim, feed and change water. Unless you have a VERY stable tank and want to solve a VERY specific problem, then Triton might not be the best for you... everything walks a fine line and while it might be Ok for a while, eventually one domino falls and more fall with it. |
