Purple Tang with more docile fish...

I would like to get a Purple Tang - but...

I also have some docile fish - Regal Angel and pair of Golden Butterflies.

This (Purple Tang) will be the last fish introduced to the tank.

If the Purple Tang is slightly smaller than the Regal and Golden Butterflies - will this work out?

If not, I am not going to sacrifice my Regal or Golden Butterflies just to get the Purple Tang.

Thanks.

Not "too" concerned there - it is a 210 gallon.

I think you have a good shot at it working out. Your tank size helps significantly.

I have two purple tangs with two regals, one regal is smaller, one is larger than the tangs. So far I have not had any issues. Both Purples where very small when first introduced.

I agree your nice big tank will help a lot.

Purple tangs are striking fish. I've never kept one, but I did have a yellow kill a dwarf angel and a pearlscale butterfly in my old 90. Obviously, you have a much better system. I think you'll be okay.

I have a purple with a regal. Purple tang pretty much ignores the regal. I think you will be fine.

I have a purple and regal and it's mostly fine. The regal is an inch longer and at least twice as thick. The only squabbles is over one of three caves. Each has thier own but that third cave is free and both like to posture that it is theirs. Nothing ever gets physical and the regal actually has started to mimic the tail swipes the purple tang does (but never any contact). It's been about 7 months now and I am currently working on my 180 upgrade!
