7g Pico Reef LPS dominated
Hi,
I'm from Poland and This is my 3rd aquarium. First one was 19g, second 57g and now this ~ 7g pico reef. I started this little cube 11,8 x 11,8 x 11,8 inch (30x30x30 cm) at august 2016. There's about 9 lbs (4 kg) of live rock and no sand. I run this aquarium on Tropic Marine Bio Actif salt with 1.025 salinity and temperature around 80 *F (around 26,5 *C). Aquarium is based on set Aquael NanoReef 30l. At the begining I was using original FZN-3 hang on filter with Siporax and stock LED lighting. Now I use Dophin PS-2012 hang on protein skimmer and Micmol Aqua Mini Colour LED lamp. Since start till now I have problem with NO3. In my previous tanks NO3 and PO4 were 0 but I have a bit algea. This tank is different. Here i have NO3= 10 ~ 25, PO4 = 0 but absolutely no algea - tank is like sterile. LPS are OK but I have problem with Zoa I lost few colonies since start. Few photos how tank evolve since start. Now i'm trying to get low with NO3 and get some more Zoa's. I'm trying vodka dosing but there's propably problem with NO3:PO4 ratio and that's why I have problem with lowering NO3 even when I done a lot of water changes every week. Protein skimmer is getting a minimum amount of waste so surely there's something wrong when NO3=25 and protein skimmer is not producing waste. Best regards, Michael. |

Thank You Devaji.
I bought Colombo PO4 test and as I tought i have PO4=0 and maybe that's why I can't get lower with NO3 and it is still between 10-25. I lost all my zoas colonies and don't know why I run on TM Bio Actif since start and now I do water changes every 2 weeks about 35% salinity 1.025. |

I made mistake with dimension of the tank.
Tank is 11,8 x 11,8 x 13,8 inch (30x30x35 cm) so it's almost 8 galons (30l). |

I get rid of Dophin PS2012 skimmer after 3 months of test because there was just a little bit of foam and no NO3 reduction.
I get back to hang on cascade filter FZN-3 with Siporax and added 2 rhizophora mangle into. It's experiment. I will light the rhizophora by night for 8 hours. |
