74g Cube Anemone Tank
I currently have a 55g reef display tank on the main floor of my house. I have a sump/refugium/frag tank located remotely in the basement.
The sump consists of 2 old 55g tanks. The water drains from the dt through the floor and into the first 55g, which is also where I am attempting to grow some frags. Water transfers through a couple of siphon tubes into the second 55 located right next to the first one. The second 55 is divided into 3 sections with 2 glass baffles. The first section is 12" long and houses my Reef Octopus Classic 100 HOB skimmer. The second section is 24" long, has an 8" deep sand bed, several live rocks, and chaeto growing. The third section has an algae turf scrubber built into it, and a bulkhead leading to the return pump(Little Giant 4-MDQ-SC). I just purchased a 74g cube to setup in my living room which is on the main floor. I am going to upgrade to a Reeflo Yellowtail pump, and feed both tanks with it. This setup has been running for over 14 months. My first question is: Once I get the new 74G setup and plumbed in, how long before I can start adding livestock? I want to make it an anemone tank(bubble tips) with a couple of clown fish, and some coral eating species of fish that I don't want in the reef tank. Also, for lighting I am thinking about using a DIY MakersLED Heatsink with 20 Cree XT-E Royal Blue chips, and a dimmable driver. This should be about 100 watts of LED. Then adding 2 or 4 lamps with a Dimmable T5 HO Miro-4 Retrofit Kit by LET Lighting with ATI lamps to add some color. Has anyone used the MakersLED Heatsink or the LET Lighting retrofit kits? Do you think this will be suitable lighting for a tank that is 24"x24"x30"high housing bubble tip anemones? Any advice or comments would be appreciated. |
