Ppm ro/di water affected by container but....?

Hey guys, I've read some threads on how a container unless completely clean will affect PPM TDS reading. However, will this just affect the reading or also affect the water now making it unsafe to use?

Pretty much wonder is the reading just inaccurate or does a "dirty" container make the water useless?

I was recommended to use some bleach to clean out the inside of the containers, do you guys recommend this?

Thank you!

Water will be fine if It's reading 0 tds out of the unit and is put in a food safe container. Dust among other things will alter your readings.

All depends on what that TDS is composed of..
If thats copper dust in that container then it could be toxic..

I typically clean everything with vinegar/water vs bleach but bleach can be used too you just need to make sure you rinse it well and let it air dry well so that the bleach is gone..

But I would just pour some vinegar in. Use a rough sponge and scrub it well then rinse out with water well.. Then use..
FYI... RO/DI water without a lid will also rise in TDS as dust/skin,etc.. in the air is falling into it..

I don't have copper dust floating in my house, but regular household dust will show a TDS reading

Sure.. but the point is that TDS is just a number.. It doesn't say if its good or bad.. just that there is some solid dissolved in there..

Without knowing what that solid is you cannot say if its fine or not.. Chances are its fine.. But they also never said if they just got this container used on craigslist or what..

I'd still clean it no matter what... Its dirty.. clean it..
