Hey bud, I'm going to be starting out my first salt water tank for Christmas
I'm going the inexpensive route, in trying for live coral yet, just some hard coral, and fish, but live sand, and tips or suggestions. I just bought a 29gal tank yesterday from petco.

Beautiful! My tank is not quite 4 months old. Hope mine is still thriving and looks like yours at 19 months!

I’ve kept it relatively simple. Added calcium reactor/Hydra hd26 LEDs after 90 days and run all blue spectrums at nearly full strength (after long acclimation). My nutrients have always been really high and I just started vodka dosing & cheato reactor to bring them down. I’ve used only RS coral pro salt since day 1 and my Alk has always run on the high side (10-11) but now has settled in at 8.5-9.0 area. I only test for Alk and as long as it stays stable I let water changes take care of everything else.
