Need additional pumps?
I have a 125g with an Eheim 1262 (900gph), and 2 Koralia 3rd gens (1950gph). Which totals 4800gph (38.4x tank size).
Now the Hydors are on a wave maker on my Reefkeeper with alternating on/off. So I believe that would actually reduce the flow by 1950gph every time it switches to the other. So should I add an extra 1950 to each side? If that would not be enough should I add the 2450 to each side totaling 5300gph each side of the tank (42.4x tank size). |

Stop worrying so much about the hard numbers. Take some food and dump it in and see where your dead spots are. You may need more, or what you have may be sufficient. (You did not tell us what size tank, how the rockwork is set up, or what coral you want to keep.)

It's a 125g 6' long. Keeping mixed soft and lps. There are some dead spots in the corners and if I adjust the pumps to get a bit more flow in the corners there is not enough to the middle it seems. It is causing some cyano to grow in the corners even where the flow is lowest.

Personally for a tank that size I would run a Gyre or 2, the wide flow pattern is far better IMO.

Lots of info out there on cyano. Although unpleasant to have visually in our tanks, even tanks with perfect parameters can be susceptible. I've battled it twice and both times used ChemiClean to wipe it out quickly and efficiently. One contributing factor can be outside light sources. Mainly the sun.
