Does anyone have any good designs for a sump for a 20 gal?

The design will be done around what equipment you plan to use in it and the associated foot prints.

If its stability you want you could do a 100 gal sump with a lot of bio filtration. Like posted above, we need more info.

yeah we need more info, like skimmer size and what else you plan to do.
I have a very simple 20G sump. I separated into 4 chambers, the first is the overflow, next is a fuge, then skimmer section and lastly return chamber. the baffle for the sump is removable so I can get the skimmer out because it's an exact fit for the skimmer.

it is not really necessary for a sump.
