Sulfur Denitrator Not Working
I added a Midwest Sulfur Denitrator (which is comparable to Korallin BioDenitrator S-1502) to an 80g tank 3 months ago. My nitrates have been unchanged at 20ppm, and the output from the denitrator is 20ppm as well. In the first month it produced significant bubbles and I had to open the air valve often, but since then it hasn't been producing as many.
Am I doing something wrong? This is my first denitrator, but from everything I've read it should be working by now. Please let me know if you need any other info from me. Thank you in advance - I appreciate the help! |

How fast is your drip? You need to start of slow then increase over time as culture builds.

I started out at about 2 drips per second, but for the last 6 weeks have set it to slightly under 1 drop per second.

I know if the effluent is doing too fast it won't have enough time to build up a culture in the reactor. It took mine about 4 weeks to get going but now mines working real well. It helps to have an orp probe in there with reverse polarity to check how well it's working.
