Skimmer and reurn suggestion help

I am looking for a skimmer and a return pump for my max 170 redsea.

I have been looking at MTC; Nyos; Reef Octupus; Lifereef; Icecap what are the differences?

What size return should I get? I heard Mag pumps cause heat issues so I want a better pump.

My sump info:

Skimmer Section: 11.625″ x 9″

Return Pump Section: 10.25″ x 7.625″

Skimmer Water Level: 7″ to 9.5″ adjustable

I am trying to make a decision today leaning towards the:

Reef Octopus Classic 150 Space Saver Protein Skimmer

Differences in skimmers is negligible. Any if those listed will be great so lons as they fit. I suggest looking into a DC pump for return so the flow rate can be adjusted. They will last longer if run at less than 100%. I've been using a Jebao DCT9000 for 2+ years with no issues (between 50-60%).

I just finished my first reef build and did a test run on it. I also have a Jebao (dct6000) and it runs dead silent on 100% nice little pump for the price IMO

I just purchased the DCP-6500 pump which I think is the newest pump. Curious can this be controlled by Apex? Also I think my return hose is 3/4" to my plumbing kit will this be an issue?

Skimmer I think I am going to go with Reef Octopus 110 classic won't kill me and looks like a nice skimmer

Take a look at the Simplicity skimmers as well. The dc120 would be the one to ch3ck out. Simplicity seems to accurately rate their skimmers vs. most others who t3nd to over rate them.

I run a dc240 on my tank and am very happy with it.

And I am liking my Jaebo DCT8000 so far. I run it at 40% and it is nearly silent. The fans in my led fixtures are much louder. And the price is right on the Jaebo. Time will tell if it holds up. I only have 6 months of run time on it. The first two months were at 100% while I did a thourough tank/plumbing shakedown.

I am concerned with noise as well looking for a quiet one if possible.
