Will this chalice grow back? (PIC)

I've had this chalice for about 2 years. It's done really well. About 2-3 weeks ago I upped my lights from 45W/65B to 40W/80B. And my chalice obviously hasn't liked it. I'm sort of bummed I did that. No need to comment that I should have left it alone - I see that. Nothing else has changed in the tank. All other corals looks good. So I'm pretty sure it's the increased lighting.

My question is, will it grow back?

Time will tell.. Likely yes assuming it was only unhappy because of the lighting..

If conditions are right it might grow back. It's amazing what corals can come back from sometimes. Did you move it someplace else or are you going to keep it right there? If it is in fact the lighting that did this and you don't make any changes it could get worse.

I've turned the lights back to where they were before.

Were it growing before? If yes, it will probably grow back. If it was not growing before, or growing very slow, it might not grow back or it might take a very long time. IMO chalice corals are slow growers

W= White
B = Blue

That's the only controls on my Maxpsect light.

So I've dialed it back down to 45 White, 65 Blue (where I had it for like two years!!!)

Oh yeah. That's probably like 9-12 months of growth I lost

I guess if it stops receding, it'll just grow back......slooooooooowly.

Yes it will grow back. Looks like an emerald mummy. Just shade it if you decide to increase the lighting. They grow a lot slower when they have to grow over their own skeleton, in my experience.

Agreed, it'll grow back. I had one come back from what was just an eraser sized piece of tissue.
