Mystery pistol shrimp
I just found a small Randall's pistol shrimp in my tank that I've never seen before. It's actively building a tunnel right out front. Has anyone ever had one hitchhike in on something other than live rock?
I had a Randall's shrimp for over five years, but then found it dead a few days after a big tank upgrade 3 years ago. Shortly after I found the dead shrimp I bought another tiny Randall and watched my orange shrimp goby eat it within seconds of it being added to my tank. About a month later I found a big tiger and that shrimp has been in my tank ever since. I'm just curious if this is the tiny shrimp from 3 years ago I thought my goby ate or whether this is a new shrimp that came in on a coral or something. I feel like I would have noticed this shrimp sooner if it's been around for that long and it's still pretty small so I also feel like it would be bigger. But if it hitch hiked it came in on a coral and survived a 20 minute dip in CoralRX. Any thoughts? |

This is the Randall's shrimp I saw for the first time last night. He startled easily and this was the best picture I could get.
This is the tiger shrimp I've had for 3 years with a new yellow watchman. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |
