Clownfish pair
Hello,
I have a small Onyx Clownfish, a hybrid of a Percula and Ocellaris, which I assume is still a juvenile. If I were to add an ocellaris clownfish to the tank, would the two pair up provided the ocellaris is a juvenile as well? I'm unsure when it comes to clownfish pairing if they need to be the exact same. Although I admit it must work out sometimes because a Percula and Ocellaris had to spawn to create the Onyx hybrid. Thank you! |

I would add two smaller clowns. Adding only one is never a guarantee. Once you have a pair, remove the third one and take it back to a fish store before the pair kills it.

R U sure that’s a hybrid of ocellaris, I thought it was a onyx percula mixed with a Picasso, both same species

Only time I had this work, is when my male died(carpet surfing), and I bought a smaller juvenile. She harassed the heck out of it, but they eventually paired up.
You just never know. The larger clown might take to a new addition, or it will kill it.
