Turbo snail from saltwater fish, bag smells not moving

Is my snail dead? It just got here in the mail among other things and its bag smells.

Currently I have it floating in my tank in its bag. What do I do? Is it dead?

If after floating for 15min it doesn't move and you said the bag smells it's likely dead and I would chuck it.

If it's dead you'll know it. A smell like no other...

Then again snails do "hibernate" so to say for a few days after the trip. If it's still clinging on the glass you might be golden, but if it's on the sand or the rocks the detrivorse might be keeping it in place.

So you opened the bag and it stinks? If so, then it is very likely dead. A live snail doesn't stink.
