Sump overflow pipes depth

How deep should the pipes go into the sump from the overflow?

1-2" below the water line is all you need.

If doing a bean setup or one relying on a full siphon forming then no more than 1" is best..
Too much and the pressure needed to purge air increases and it may prevent it purging fast enough during startup..
