New LiveAquaria Refund Policy
Just figured I would give everyone a heads up, since I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere. As of 8/1, LiveAquaria now requires an emailed photo of any deaths in order to receive a refund. Not complaining, just figured people should be aware... I have ordered once or twice a year from them for probably a decade and have never been asked for a photo before so I've gotten in the habit of tossing any dead and giving them a call a day or two later when I get a chance. I explained the situation and they were nice enough and honored my refund since it was a new policy I was not aware of. Just keep in mind going forward this will remove refunds for those deaths that just disappear and never show up...

They also require you place salt on the specimen and place it in the freezer Incase they want to have you ship it back

In a recent conversation with Petco manager, I was told that Petco bought out liveaquaria. I also noticed an increase in prices across the board at liveaquaria.

We recently purchased from liveaquaria roughly 20 fish, and unfortunately we had to take advantage of their refund policy. However, before we purchased, we were aware and read their policy in order to compare what online supplier to purchase from. liveaquaria seemed to be the better choice. most other stores gave an in store credit that can only be used once for a re-order and only for live goods. Liveaquaria simply refunded the purchase of the fish which meant we were able to allocate that money however we wanted. I don't know if liveaquaria simply stops selling you fish after a certain amount of failures, I had to reclaim 8 anthias on 2 separate occasions (which was a chunk of money to give back) and because of that they have my business for all fish purchases.
I didn't view photographing, bagging and freezing all the dead fish in order to reclaim a refund as "too much". I would agree that purchasing locally would be the better choice, I don't know about where you guys are, but there isn't an LFS around here that will offer a 15 day full refund on dead fish. Some of these fish are upwards of $300 and it would be nice to have some sort of piece of mind to know that if the fish dies, you aren't left with nothing to show for it.

From what I have seen(heard) none of the processes for obtaining, holding and shipping of fish at LiveAquaria.com has changed, just the guaranteeDon't let hate keep you form LA.

I don't see anything wrong with wanting a picture of a dead fish just to confirm it's actually dead.
Had to do this recently with bluezoo. I'm sure there have been a few shisters that claimed a DOA and they weren't actually DOA. This just solves that problem. I don't see how this is any different then if you had bought a fish from your LFS, then it died. Your LFS would want to see the body. They would not just blindly issue a credit or new fish without proof of a dead body.

This has been posted here before. The only reason to have an issue with the new policy is if you plan to screw them over otherwise its no big deal for getting great livestock.

Liveaquaria was one of the only ones that didn’t require a picture. I’m not sure what the issue is or why someone wouldn’t want to buy from them because of it.

I always kept the DOAs anyways just in case they did want to see, which they never did.

I freeze my dead for a few days until I have time to bury them.
