Installed a Klir fleece filter today. This device is pretty neat. Really easy to assemble and install. Quiet operation and fits perfectly in a standard 4" filter sock holder.

I've been super interested in those roller filters but I can't seem to find one that will just "drop in" to the 7" rectangle sock slots on my Eshoppes sump. Been torn between the Klir and Clarisea but I just don't want to do a big retrofit for an already running system.

My tank is still cycling so not much is getting caught in the fleece. Hopefully I can see how it performs when I add livestock in a few weeks.

Sounds good. Hope you can get it sorted out. The Klir filter looks very promising.

Hey mnml,
What kind of rock did you use and where did you get it? Love the look! once it’s filled in with coral it will look awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for the kind words. The rocks are called Stax from Two Little Fishies. I got them from saltwateraquarium.com. Got about 55 lbs in my tank.

It honestly looks like they took calcium carbonate rock and used a band saw to cut it into “layers” an inch or so thick. Awesome idea as it gives you a lot of options and once everything grows in you will have a sweet aquascape. I’m tagging along on this one to see how things end up. Might try the band sawed rock approach on my next tank! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That’s a really cool idea. I’m sure you can DIY if you have the right saw. Thanks for following along. Planning to visit Reefapalooza here in SoCal in Oct. Will be stocking the tank then.

Picked up a CoralBox doser. I was pleasantly surprised on how accurate this pump is once it’s calibrated. The app makes setup a breeze.

Thanks. I'm not sure what breed. My LFS had it labeled as "Designer" clown. My wife and kids picked them out.

Looks like a "bullet holes" or "frostbite" to me, there are a few companies that sell them that I'm aware of like Sea and Reef or Proaquatix.

Gotcha, good to know. I picked them up at Seaside in HB. They had about 30 of these guys in their own 70g tank.

How are the Maxspect xf230s on the 12mm glass?
How are they placed? Back Wall? Vertical or horizontal? Any other flow Powerhead? How are you hiding cords for them? I currently have ecotechs that are old but looking to add Maxspect. Thanks. |

No issues with the magnets on the 12mm glass. I have them mounted at the end of each side horizontally. No other flow besides the return nozzles. I plan to run the cord vertical out of the tank similar to the ecotech. I can share with you my gyre settings if you decide to get a pair. IMG_0558.jpg

I’ve been using it now for 3 weeks at 2ml each every other day. So far I have not seen positive or negative effects. Will keep dosing for at least 2 months before I decide whether or not to keep dosing.
