Did Ecotech discontinue these? Can’t find them anywhere.

You'd probably want to just contact them. I've seen the kits come and go from the website.

From Ecotech “Thank you for contacting EcoTech Marine and we truly appreciate your continued support of our brand. We no longer have XR30w Generation 3 upgrades available as we have not manufactured G3 Radions in almost 3 years. With that in mind, we no longer have components available in order to produce upgrades. I am sorry for the inconvenience.”

They probably discontinued them because people were buying the kits and going the DIY route.

Sales for them , yes but not as much as selling a complete light.
it's this or what they said in the email, maybe a mixture of bought.

I get it but still sucks. I am sure the profit margin on two clusters was still pretty good though.

I bought the upgrade kits for two lights and all the kit came with were the pucks, so I highly doubt someone would buy them for a DIY project. They'd have to match up the pins to each color, then build a controller, and put it in a case and find the right power supply. Seems like more trouble than it's worth.

I agree that the profit margin on two pucks would be high.

At this point you'd be better off buying a used G3. I had mine up for sale for $200 and had no buyers so I kept it as a back-up. IIRC the upgrade kits were about the same price.

I think they meant people diy (do the upgrade) instead of buying the newer models

Yeah it was $250 to go G2 to G3 and $350 to go pro. I just don’t want used again. I feel like I am having algae issues due to LED age. Under my middle light hair algae has gone wild and not so much under the other two.
