Enough Flow

Hello,

I will be upgrading to a waterbox 50.3 AIO. Extremely excited, but taking my time with the planning involved in the upgrade. I currently have 1 MP10 in my 28g JBJ.

The 50.3 water box with my 36" long, 18" high, and 20" deep. Will 1 MP10 be enough? Or would I need a second for the other side as well? The tank does have a dual flow nozzle in the center of the back of the tank. I am not sure on the flow rate of the return pump. I am going to assume it is not that powerful, probably around 500gph or so?

This tank will have mainly LPS/Softies.

Thanks!

For LPS/Softies having around 30x-50x display tank volume in GPH from powerheads/return pump is typically recommended..

Thanks, Max power on the Mp10 I believe is around 1500gph. That along with the return pump should put me a bit over 30x. So I would be on the low end.

Yes and most certainly if you are using anything but max power which it would be kind of silly to have an MP10 and not take advantage of its adjustability..

I always use at least two flows, opposite each other, on a timer, one on one off then switch.
Some Corals grow weird if flow is not random, some just get unhappy.

I use 6 on a random timer.

Right now in my 28g the mp10 at 50% on reef crest mode is more than enough. Reef crest mode keeps things random as well. I think I would definitely need to use it on max power in the 3 foot long 50 gallon though. Unless of course I got a second one on the other side and randomized their settings. Probably could run both at 80% or so and get great flow.
