Chemiclean aeration Question

I just dosed chemiclean in my 55 to kill of cyano outbreak.

I know that you have to oxygenate more than normal during the process. I have a pump/airstone that was all set to go, and then was not functioning so is trash.

As an alternative, I took off my skimmer cup and cranked up the overflowing bubbles from the skimmer. Seems to me to be way more aeration than a simple basswood airstone.

Is this enough? I'm not worried about not skimming right now as I only have 3 small fish in the tank. Not much bioload, and it's only for 48 hrs*max.

There are so many bubbles form the skimmer (SCA 302, which is rated at 180 gallons in my 55,) that the tank even has tons of microbubbles. Thoughts?

Thanks for the reply. I also found this addressed in another thread. Sorry for not checking first, all! Mods can close if it helps reduce thread clutter. Thanks!

That's what I do when I dose.
I have also found I can get away with a 50% dose.
Lights out for up to 3 days helps too.

Running the skimmer without the collection cup should work fine.

It's unfortunate that the box says to run the skimmer. When I ran my skimmer, the product was just skimmed out, so the chemi clean obviously didn't work. Next time I turned the skimmer off, and the product works perfectly.

I have an open top, a sump, smallish fish, and returns and powerheads pointed at the surface...so I wasn't that worried about oxygen.

I have had no problems using skimmer.
If the amount of bubbles it produces isn’t enough not sure what would be

That's what I do, run the skimmer cup off. Turn the lights off for 36 hrs, then a water change.
