Porthole review
Hi all - got a chance to have fun with the avast porthole. I tried it out with a bunch of lenses, including a 18-70 mm zoom, and 40/60/105mm macro lenses. I also shot some video clips on my smart phone.
Some pics here and full review in the video. I really liked it. Pics straight from camera - note these are my ‘first-time out’ with the porthole. One thing that you should keep in mind if you are considering the porthole - if you have a small tank like mine and if your corals are pretty close to the water surface - you’ll need a lens that focuses really close. I found the 40 mm and 60 mm nikon macros worked really well. My 105mm macro has a min focus distance of 6” - not ideal for taking pics of coral up in my tank but definitely worked for mid and lower corals Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Nice pics. I have one, honestly, I have three. There are a few varieties out there, and I've tried most. They do work well.
