Don't thin it out?
It will continue to grow and likely self shade itself causing some dying thus releasing what its absorbed back into the water column...aka that would be a silly waste of energy to grow chaeto and not export it regularly..

Like he said it would release everything back into the water.....but that is part of one methodology. If you don’t thin it out other nutrients that you algae absorb from you dosing will also release, and the coral better absorb it. Kinda like the difference between vitamins and green vegetables your body better absorb vitamins and mineral from natural sources. I thin mine out but not drastically

yes keep it bright green and if too big a mass, take some to a local shop, if starting to die off it is releasing what it took up back into the tank like said above.
