Nano 5 gallon Fluval Evo

Found some equipment in storage. My two dogs passed recently. And needed something to focus on. [IMG]

Looking to create a Zoa garden mostly.

Current state of build.

Small return compartment
- heater
- stock return pump
- smart ATO micro sensor

Larger compartment
- Coralife Nano Biocube Skimmer
- (looking to add - Apex probes in future)

Tank
- Temp sensor
- HOB with Zeovit and sensor
- Dry live rock rubble(not artificially made)
- Small amount Aragonite sand
- ATO return tube

Lighting
- old generation Ecotech Radion

Flow
- 50 times tank volume

Tank is still cycling. Initial algae outbreak from nutrients in rock. Used RO water and Reef Crystals. Skimmer exporting a great deal of nutrients out. Nutrient taper should take 4-6 weeks or more.

I like the nano concept. It’s really easy to change most of the tank volume if needed.

A larger version, 13 gallon. Looking to silicone the rock to the base glass and other rock layered too. Main reason is the flow might move things around. I used Stax Reef Rock, it’s precut flat.

My goal is to keep tank parameters as consistent as possible. With a Nano tank, it’s pretty hard. The ATO takes care of tank evaporation. And skimmer exporting some salinity out with the nutrients. Goal is to do 30-40 percent water change weekly but, the new water needs to match the existing water as much as possible. (Temp/salinity). Looking to carpet the tank with Zoas and Shrooms, maybe 1 beginner Monti or SPS.
