BRS has new Gyres in stock
Hi all,
After quite a wait in the US, it looks like BRS has the new Maxspect Gyres in stock. I thought the originals were great in concept with some 'rough edges'. I bought one and returned it due to controller issues. I'm taking the plunge again. It looks like the controller has improved over time and the latest version has some tweaks designed to improve ease of maintenance and reliability. Keeping my fingers crossed. Matt |

I plan to get a XF350 from them this weekend. Other stores had them in stock since the beginning of the month.

My XF350 is installed now on one end of my 180. Before, I had an MP60 at one end (dialed back pretty far to prevent killing of a hammer that has grown up to almost in front of it maybe a little more than a foot away) and an MP40 at the other end, turned most of way up. The XF350 replaced the MP40 and is pulsing between 10 and 50 percent, with the MP60 running pretty slowly at the other end. My first impressions are: 1) it seems to have kicked up a lot of detritus throughout the tank; it appears I'm getting more 'complete' flow in more areas of the tank; and 2) I also have a hammer at this end and the XF350 makes it 'shiver' but, doesn't seem to bother it like the MP60 does at the other end of the end.
If the new version is reliable and easy to clean, I think we may have a winner. I'll say one thing about my Vortechs, they have been absolutely bullet proof, requiring little to no maintenance and chugging along for years. Matt |

Following along as for my 180 has an MP 60 on one end and two MP40's across from it. The MP 60 is making a lot of noise and I think its the ceramic shaft bearing on the wet side as for it seems to be short now so it allows it to move. Not sure I want to buy another MP60. Note these are all the older wireless version not the new QD versions.
