Which one is better??
I’m in the market for a skimmer. Setting up a 75G with 30G sump. Looking at Bubble Magus Curve 5 or Vertex Omega 130. Also, which online retailer is best. BRS and Marine Depot are the most flashy but that makes me wonder if they get perks for their videos.
Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated... thx. |

I've had bubble magus which worked great but when I upgraded I switched over to vertex 180i for my 120gal. I love the accurate tuning and screw cup makes for easy no spill. My skimmates are extra stinky . As for where to buy I would support your lfs. That's where I got mine.

I have had a vertex skimmer for about 4 years and absolutely love it. I have yet to have any problems with it

Be wary with the Vertex Omega 130. It is notorious for being an absolute bear to dial in. Read the reviews on BRS for the 130 and see for yourself. There is a thread somewhere where someone mods it by using an air valve from the air intake line from a Cobalt MJ powerhead to dial down the air on the Vertex 130 to make it easier to dial in.

Try a AquaMaxx ConeSCo-1
or a Simplicity 120 DC skimmer both are very good skimmers. |
