Finding pix of things: how to

WIki and other sources have a lot of helpful pix, plus articles that tell you useful things about your specimens.
To get best results, use the scientific name if you can: swipe it. For example, just searching 'purple mushroom' is likely to get you a strangelooking fungus. If you search 'purple mushroom coral' you MIGHT get a good marine mushroom pic. But the surest of all is searching either 'discosoma' or 'actinodiscus'. Both will return you purple mushrooms, but they are not the same: the actinodiscus, eg, may have red spots.
If you want to know about hammer, torch, etc, look up euphyllia.
For colored sticks, search acropora.
If you want to know about a fish, you may succeed with the common name, but best go for the scientific one if you can find it. It will also clue you in as to how closely related, and whether, despite appearances, two fish may not get along.

The online pix are a very valuable resource, and fill you in on some interesting facts such as the ability of an elephant ear mushroom to trap small fish, or the fact some species are nocturnal, which cuts down on your viewing of same. Very helpful info.
