Algae id pls...
Anyone know what kind of algae this lovely snail is sporting on his shell? I like it and have one small patch of it on the live rock. It seems to be very slow growing.

Yeah, it is a type of valonia. It is pretty, & easy to remove manually. I have had mithrax crabs eat the stuff.

It bloomed to a point that I had to remove some each week. That was during the first 6 months of a new tank. I think it lasted about 3 months or a little less. Some get diatoms, I got this. Definitly watch it.
