If left out long enough, could trigger spawning,

How true

Also,
aren't they found in very shallow water that is often exposed during low tide?

Hopefully this is all moot since it's not that difficult to have a cup of saltwater around

Cheers

Clam frams actually sit them out on teh beach in the baking sun for a few hours to induce them to breed.

Derasa, gigas, squamosa no, normally deeper. Maxima and crocea are found in and around the reef but I really don't think they are found in shallow waters and exposed to the air at all or ever.

I'm pretty sure clams aren't exposed to air naturally for any lengths of time. As stated earlier ,in order to induce a spawn the farm will set them out in the sun to heat up but to my knowledge the durations are still under 1 hour and it is obviously a stressful event. I have personally seen 1 out for around an hour without any permenant repercussions.

Hope that helps
