Let's see those open-top lighting setups..
I am almost finished setting up my 120 and only have the light's to go...
I did a search and couldn't find any other threads like this, please point me in the right direction if I'm wrong.. Thanks. Mike |

If a couple others don't mind me stealing their photos, here are a couple I've always been fond of, as I'm looking at open top on my next tank, also.

Here is how mine is set up. 275W MH pendant and a 200W PC fixture. Works good for my size tank.

very nice! but heres a question. how do you deal with small flying bug that may land in your tank? I had a mothe land in my 10g and it caused my water to get merky and I lost some shrooms and things like that! not to mention now that I run a halide over it the tank attracks alot more little nats and things like that!

I spent $600 on this Coralife Aqualight Pro. You can also hang this fixture over the tank. I like the streamline look. I don't really care for the canopies.

Here are some photos of what I did. I am using a PFO mini pendant. I did not like the idea of the fixture hanging and I did not want this huge canopy on a little tank. So I made a small canopy to house the fixture and then hung it from the ceiling via aircraft cable. I made it out of euro-ply and routed in a piece of aluminum perf in the top to let the heat escape. I am so pleased with how it works and the ease of access that I am thinking of doing the same when I set up my 180.
