That is a truely amazing tank. If my tank looks half that nice at 1 yr, I will consider it a success. Although I'm sure that will be impossible...as I am having to take the budget route and buy all of my SPS as very small frags. 2 years maybe

Thanks for the pics.

What do you use for lighting? I like how it looks. Not too blue but not too white.

Awesome tank!

I can't seem to keep Acros alive. Water chemistery problem is suspect. Can you share the steps you use to keep such amazing corals?

Thanks
JHB

Hi Guys!
Man, what a response within two hours!

My derasa has been with me for three years. He was about 3" when I got him and is now a little over 8"

This is what I do, very similar to my philosohpy for my 40g...KEEP IT SIMPLE!

1) keep my hands out of the tank as much as possible, especially once I put a coral in a place it is happy.
2) only dose kalkwasser (RODI) - I'm now using an Ozmo unit to regulate top off and I DON'T use any other supplements. My ca is around 420-450 and alk around 12-14dkh and I only dose kalk.
3) good rock and lighting (figi with dual 250hqi 20k AB + T5 actinics)
4) feed heavily once everything is established. I have a 'high' fish load....around 13 fish, most small.
5) skimmer is a EuroReef CS-8 and I'm using maxi1200s for in tank circulation.
6) again, keep hands out and don't try to keep tweaking trying new gadgets or lighting types. I've found it takes months for things to settle in properly, even after I make a slight change in equipment or coral placement. Stability and consistency has been the key for me.

Thanks for all the compliments and looking at my pics. I'll post some more after resizing them for the web.

Brad

That is a very nice tank. Very well done!!
In my house, I'm the only one who is allowed to stick hands in the tank. And that's not to often.

That is an incredible looking system. I was VERY impressed with your 40gallon TOTM, this one even out does it, which I didnt think would be possible.

Its nice to see a Mixed reef system for a change, especially since I am in the process of doing another one myself.

Do you have much of a problem with the more agressive growing softies like your GSP,Xenia, and Zoos so close to your SPS?

Are you using Carbon?

What is the flow like in your tank? How many MJ1200's are you using? What return pump? Closed loop?

Nice tank!

Dennis
