FS: 55Gallon Reef. Stable for 6 years $850obo
The above photos were taken about 6 months back. The system has matured since then and an Overflow box was added to hide the pump. I will take some updated photos this evening or upon request. Its with great regret that I need to move on from the Reefing Hobby. I am about to move to a smaller place and have no room for my tank and must sell. Tank is an acrylic 55gallon. Minor scratches at sand level. Lighting consists of 2 96w Power compacts and 2 96w VHO Actinics. 36" Skimmer is an AquaC Remora pro that has been modified for sound insulation (I sleep with the tank in my room) I have the overflow box for the skimmer. Aquaclear 300 for occasional carbon and polyfilters. 3 Maxijet 1200s for flow. 10 Gallon topoff tank in stand with dual redundant float switches to keep the water level steady at all times and salinity in check. The tank has over 100lbs of live rock that is about 95% covered in purple coralline algae. No hair algae on any of the rock nor Aiptasia. Livestock consists of a Maroon Clown whom I've had for 6 years and he lives in a bubbletip aenemone that I've had for over 3 years. The aenemone is one of the largest and healthiest I have ever seen in a small system and the clown takes great care of it. It has survived 2 moves! There is a 6" engineer goby that I have had for over 4 years whom is very shy, and a Purple Chromis whom is his buddy. Corals: Small Toadstool Leather Green Zooanthids Brown Zooanthids Green Watermelon mushrooms Red Mushrooms Blue Mushrooms Brown Polyps Green Star Polyps. Various others The rocks are covered in random corals that have drifted around the tank at some point in its 6 year history. THIS TANK IS LOW MAINTENANCE. I do water changes about once a month, fill up the 10 gallon topoff container every 2 weeks, and empty the skimmer weekly. The acrylic needs to be scraped about every 2 weeks. People are amazed at my maintenance schedule and the health of the system. I feed frozen brine every 2 days and this keeps the nitrates down and the fish happy. I've followed the schedule for over 2 years and it works well. I will not part out this system and would prefer to sell the entire setup. $850 Call me for details or send me an e-mail! I want my animals to go to a good home and a responsible reefer! Contact Dane 310-463-9110 dane@roguemotoring.com |

Bumping this and putting the tank back for sale...
I just purchased a new home and will be building a new setup after a few years, but for now this setup must go! I have since replaced the VHO's with 2 96watt actinic Power compacts and added a 20gallon Refugium sump with newer skimmer. It is plumbed to a SCWD with dual outlets back into the tank. Quiet overflow... I'd much rather this system go to a Reefcentral person rather than some random person off craigslist. It could use some attention as I am starting to neglect it as I get closer to the close of escrow. $650 you arrange all pickup. Please give me a call. 3104639110 |

remora pro
Curious as to the modifications you made to the Remora Pro to quiet it down. Please describe or post pictures, if you can!

I applied dynamat soundeadener to the outside of the skimmer, a piece of acrylic that covered the air part of the outlet into the tank, making it so the spray noise wasn't as audible, and also kept a dish towel wrapped around the top. It has since been thrown out and replace with the refugium skimmer setup. |
