submersible return pumps which is best
i am trying to figure out what return pump i should go with and am having a hard time deciding pirces are in cdn dollars
the contenders are - eheim 1262 900gph $175 - quiet one 4000hh 980 gph $132 - mag 12 1200 gph $152 of these three which one do u feel would be best the sump is 40gallons with a 1200 gph hang on back overflow on a 135 gallon tank i am not so much worried about this pump for flow as i will have a seio 1500 and ac802 powerhead in tank |

Out of that list I would go with the Eheim 1262.

Eheim - no contest, it's in a different league from the other two.

i have the 1262 and have nothing put praise for it. Currently used as a return from basement sump (appx 6ft vertical head) and still provides good flow.

Eheim are great - mags run hot and can be loud - I have heard only good things about Quiet ones but have no first hand knowledge

Can the eheim be used with pvc piping? do the fittings allow you to screw in a threaded adaptor to go into the pvc?

I just installed an Eheim 1262 as my dedicated return pump. Definitely a good pump. Very quiet. Only issue I had was that I use it submersed, so it raised my overall temperature from 79* to 81*. (I was using a Blueline 40HDX externally before).

Eheim. I have a 1260 and am really happy with it. A 1260 would also be fine on your setup. You dont need or want tons of display->sump flow. The Eheim pumps flow more than you would think by the rating. My "635 GPH" 1260 flows a ton more than the "700 GPH" Mag7 it replaced. MUCH quieter too.

I run a mag 7, smaller than what you are talking about but....it's loud and does put some heat off. For the money, it's OK. I plan to swap it out in a few months and relegate the mag for water mixing.
