Im betting a jar with only a small hole in it with food would do the trick!

How do I find it? I don't think it wanders around in the tank, it is still very small.

they sell traps for them, but ya, as mentioned above, a jar with a small hole in it, with some food will do the same thing.

I found it tonight! Do Mantis make click noises? I was looking in the tank using a flashlight and when the lightbeam hit "the thing" it made a couple of clicking noises (I think it was it maiking the noises).

Yea, they make a clicking noise every once in awhile. Pistol shrimp do it also and they can get really loud. Just don't get too close to it and if you get too close then your going to know it.

Cought the damn thing!!!

I took out the rock it was hiding in and fordec it out of it's hiding place!

It's in a bucket now - and I'm trying to decide if I should keep it or put it out of it's missery. It would be fun to see how big it can grow... I have a small tank, about 70-80 litres that I can set up - just need a skimmer for it...

The mantis is about 2 cm long and has a bit of a temper...

Keep it - in a species tank they're supposed to make really interesting pets

Is it nessecary to have a skimmer in a 60-80 litres tank if the ony "pet" in it is a mantis? Maybe a bit live rock. No corals, fish and inverts.

No, not in the sump - I woun't be able to get it out of there!

I'm going to keep it but in my old 60 litres aquarium. Gonna find it in the shed tomorrow, clean it and prepare some water.

This will be an interesting new project... a mantis-aquarium.

So it has to suffice with living in a bucket the next couple of days until the tank is ready.

Go in the mantis forum here and post a thread. The mantis lovers will give you some great advice. If I were you I would keep him, they can be really interesting.

I think a skimmer would be necessary, since they eat live snails and crabs and stuff, there might be some ammonia build up. Maybe later on anyway. I wish I had a mantis tank...

You can set the tank up fast with the removal of water from the main tank (partial water change)
